Ex-Governor Emmanuel Home After EFCC Interrogation

The immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has been told to go home by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after being interrogated on issues bothering on allegation of  financial misconduct.

He arrived at the Commission on Tuesday March 4, by 12:30 pm on their invitation.

After some hours of interrogation , he was allowed to go home in the evening of the same day.

The ex- governor’s invitation by the EFCC was in response to a petition by a group, Network Against Corruption and Trafficking NCAT who accused  the former governor of money laundering, diversion of public funds, and mismanagement of state resources during his eight years as governor of Akwa Ibom state.

NCAT in the petition claimed that Udom Emmanuel received a total of ₦3 trillion from the Federation Account while in office and left the state with a debt burden of ₦500 billion.

They also alleged that there were ongoing projects in Akwa Ibom State worth ₦300 billion that has not been paid for, and a ₦700 billion that has not been accounted for by the former governor.
