Yemi Akinyinka, the general manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, disclosed this in a statement in Ibadan.

A  distress call about the fire incident was sent to  the agency personnel  by one Akioso via a phone call  at exactly 4:00 a.m. on Saturday .

Mr Akinyinka said the personnel led by ACFS Olubunmi promptly deployed officers to the scene and arrived on time.

“On arrival, we met a Mikano electrical generator and set the board on fire,” he said.

Mr Akinyinka added that the agency’s personnel, in collaboration with a team of fire marshals from the University of Ibadan, completely put off the fire.

He said the fire affected the Mikano generator and board while other telecommunication gadgets were saved.

The general manager attributed the cause of the fire to an electricity surge.
