Osun LG Poll: Police Seal OSSIEC Headquarters, Arrest Officials On Duty

The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye, has alleged that operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested commission staff assigned to election duties across the state.

Abioye made this claim in a statement released on OSSIEC’s official X page on Saturday.

While commending voters for participating in the election, he apologized for the commission’s inability to provide accreditation materials, attributing the issue to the police, who had sealed off OSSIEC’s headquarters in Osogbo, where the materials were stored.

“For the units where materials didn’t arrive early, it was due to the police arresting officials transporting them,” Abioye stated.

“However, new materials have been deployed, and voting is now ongoing.”

The election, which has been marred by logistical issues and reports of low voter turnout, continues across the state.
