Edo: “I’M Prepared To Clear My Name” – Suspended Attorney General

The suspended Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Edo State, Samson Osagie, has refuted allegations of financial misconduct leveled against him.

Osagie was suspended on Wednesday alongside Damian Lawani, Chairman of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission, over alleged financial infractions.

The suspension was announced in a letter dated February 5, 2025, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, on the directive of Governor Monday Okpehbolo.

A committee has been set up to investigate the claims and provide recommendations.

In response, Osagie issued a statement on Thursday denying any wrongdoing and asserting his willingness to defend himself.

“I was never involved in any financial dealings with anyone, nor have I committed any financial infractions,” he stated. “I was not confronted with any allegations before my suspension, but I am prepared to clear my name and protect my hard-earned reputation.”

The investigation into the allegations remains ongoing.
