PDP Crisis: Bode George Reveals Rift With Wike After Fallout With Atiku

Chief Bode George, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and member of the party’s Board of Trustees, has explained his fallout with Nyesom Wike, whom he initially supported to oppose Atiku Abubakar before the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on Arise TV on Friday, January 31, 2025, George blamed the ongoing PDP crisis on the 2022 national convention, where he accused Atiku and former party chairman Iyorchia Ayu of disrupting the party’s zoning arrangement by allowing both the presidential candidate and national chairman to emerge from the northern region.

“I didn’t just jump ship to support Wike or Atiku. I had meetings with both of them and Ayu, but they disrupted the system,” George stated.

Initially siding with Wike due to his opposition to Atiku’s camp, George later distanced himself from Wike’s group when they shifted their support to Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.

“When they said Tinubu was the better option, I told them, ‘If you take this outside, I will counter you. You have no idea who this man is. He ruled my state, and we know his modus operandi,’” he added.

George’s revelations highlight the deep divisions within the PDP, which have persisted since the 2023 election, shaping the party’s current struggles.
