Court Orders Arrest Of Mercy Chinwo’s Manager Over Alleged $345,000 Diversion

A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued a warrant for the arrest of Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the manager of renowned gospel artist Mercy Chinwo.

Justice Alexander Owoeye granted the order on Thursday following an ex parte motion filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Representing the EFCC, Mrs. Bilikisu Buhari cited constitutional provisions and sections of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (2015) to justify the application.

According to the EFCC, Mercy Chinwo accused her manager of diverting $345,000 in royalties from her digital platforms and events without proper disclosure or remittance.

Investigations revealed that despite several attempts to apprehend the manager, he evaded arrest, prompting the commission to seek a formal warrant.

The court approved the request and warned that a public summons would be issued if Onyedikachukwu remains at large. The case has been adjourned to January 24, 2025, for his arraignment.

In a supporting affidavit, EFCC investigator Mr. Michael Idoko confirmed receiving the petition from Chinwo. He noted that the funds in question were allegedly collected by the manager without her consent.
