AGN Refutes Claims Of President Emeka Rollas’ Arrest In Abia State

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has dismissed reports that its national president, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, was arrested and detained by the police in Umuahia, Abia State.

In a statement released by AGN spokesman Cornel Udofia, the guild described the reports as “a figment of imagination” aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the Nigeria Police Force.

Udofia explained that the incident stemmed from ongoing leadership disputes within the Abia chapter of the AGN. He recounted that since 2024, a group led by David Amalaha had allegedly hijacked the chapter through an unauthorized election, prompting the national body to appoint interim leaders.

On January 9, 2025, during the first meeting of the newly appointed interim chairman, Emmanuel Ehumadu, also known as Labista, Rollas attended to encourage unity among members. The meeting reportedly turned chaotic when an attendee began issuing threats and causing disruptions.

Rollas subsequently called for police intervention. According to Udofia, the police only questioned those involved in the disturbance, and Rollas was never arrested or detained.

“The National President was never arrested or detained as claimed in the report. It is a fabrication intended to discredit the Nigeria Police Force,” Udofia stated.

The AGN assured members and supporters that the issue is being addressed, urging the public to disregard misleading reports
