Engr. Derek Izedonmwen ,The gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2024 governorship election in Edo State has called on Nigerians to be hopeful as there is always a calm after the storm, this was conveyed in his new year message to Nigerians, he advocated for good leadership and a breed of leaders who are prepared, visionary, and capable of moving the nation in the right direction.
The astute politician also extended his gratitude to his supporters who stood by him during the 2024 Edo governorship election, appreciating their efforts and believing in him and his vision of a new Edo. He state that the team ran a campaign rooted in hope, integrity, and a blueprint for transformation.
The politician called on all Edolites and Nigerians to be united and hopeful he stated that the road to greatness calls for perseverance, focus, and courage while calling on citizenry to recommit themselves and double their efforts towards building “a nation of our dream”.
“Dear Friends and Fellow Patriots, at the break of dawn on this New Year, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your commitment, resilience, and unwavering belief in our shared vision.
“The year 2024 was one of immense effort and dedication. We ran a campaign rooted in hope, integrity, and a blueprint for transformation. Though we placed fourth behind APC, PDP, and LP, it was not a loss but the beginning of something greater—a solid foundation for the future.”
Izedonmwen acknowledged that Nigeria faces immense economic challenges, and hardship feels close for many. He, however, said that “after the fiercest storm comes calm”.
“Nations are often pushed to the brink by poor leadership and bad decisions. At such moments, the need arises for a new kind of leadership—one that is prepared, visionary, and capable of steering us in the right direction. Together, we are part of this future,” The message read in part.
“To my Edo brothers and sisters and Nigerians everywhere, let us stay united and hopeful. Our collective strength has carried us through darker times, and the road to greatness now calls for perseverance, focus, and courage.
“This year, let us recommit to our dreams and redouble our efforts. Our time will come, and when it does, we will be ready to lead with purpose, humility, and unwavering resolve.
“May 2025 bring hope, good health, and new opportunities. Together, we will rise.
“Happy New Year, and may God bless Edo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” The message concluded.
