Tems Reflects On Early Struggles, Importance Of Family

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has opened up about the challenges she encountered at the outset of her music career.

In a candid interview with Glamour Magazine Germany, the “Essence” hitmaker admitted to a certain degree of naivety during her early days in the industry.

“I don’t want to lie. I was very naive at the beginning of my career – I just wanted to make good art. I had to learn how to navigate the music business in a healthy way,” she confessed.

Tems attributes her ability to stay grounded amidst her meteoric rise to fame to her strong support system, particularly her management team and family.

“I would say that it is both my management and my family that keep me grounded. Especially my family, my mother and my brother,” she added.
