Zlatan Ibile Defends Celebrities Wearing Fake Designers: “It’s Not A Crime”

Nigerian rapper and fashion entrepreneur Zlatan Ibile has criticized the growing trend of mocking individuals, including celebrities, for wearing fake designer outfits.

In a viral video, Zlatan argued that fashion entrepreneurs and critics should avoid shaming people who wear counterfeit designs, as not everyone can afford the originals.

 He stated, “People wey dey buy fake, make dem dey buy am until dey get money to buy original. Person wey wear fake today, go wear original tomorrow.”

His comments follow recent incidents where fashion entrepreneur Rahman Jago publicly called out veteran singer Oritse Femi for wearing fake high-fashion pieces.

Similarly, a few months ago, Ashluxe founder Olayinka Ashogbon criticized singer Lyta for wearing knockoffs of his brand.

Zlatan’s remarks have sparked discussions about the pressures of maintaining appearances in the entertainment industry and the financial realities faced by many artists and fans alike.
