“My Dad Was First To Connect Nigeria To Internet” – Eldee

Veteran Nigerian singer and rapper, Eldee The Don, has revealed that his father was instrumental in introducing the internet to Nigeria.

Speaking on the Adesope Live show, Eldee disclosed that his father established the first cyber cafe in Lagos and provided internet services to major oil companies and government agencies, including Mobil and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

He said, “Thankfully, I had a dad who was in technology. My dad was a pioneer in his own space as well. He was the first person to connect Nigeria to the internet. This is something people argue about because they don’t know his name. He wasn’t the type to seek public recognition.”

Eldee noted that growing up with access to advanced technology gave him a significant advantage in his music career.

The artist credited his father’s groundbreaking contributions to technology as a cornerstone of his early exposure to innovation, which helped shape his path in the entertainment industry.

He shared, “At that time, we had access to technology that wasn’t really available. I had a studio in our house where music was being produced.”
