Hon. Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency and son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has debunked allegations that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) discovered massive sums of cash and drugs in his residence.
The viral social media reports claimed EFCC operatives found $800 million, ₦700 billion in cash, and ₦1 trillion worth of drugs in his Kaduna home.

In a statement released on Thursday, Bello El-Rufai described the allegations as baseless and politically motivated. He clarified that he does not own a private residence in Kaduna, having lived in his family home in Unguwar Sarki, Kaduna, since birth.
“The unfounded allegation is nothing but a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, tarnish my reputation, and sow seeds of confusion,” he stated.
El-Rufai expressed confidence in the support of his constituents and dismissed the claims as attempts to distract him from his service to the people of Kaduna North.

“My constituents know what would happen if I were truly blessed with such figures. For those sponsoring these ignorant attacks, I assure you that we will continue to serve the people and enjoy how it annoys them. Quality, frank, and honest representation is here to stay in Kaduna North,” he added.
He also condemned the spread of fake news and the use of defamatory tactics to manipulate public perception.
“The attempt to connect me to illicit activities through unfounded allegations is not only defamatory but also a violation of the principles of justice,” El-Rufai concluded.
However, the EFCC has yet to issue an official statement regarding the alleged operation.
