Police Clamp Down On Tinted Glasses, Covered Plates To Curb Crime in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has intensified enforcement of laws prohibiting tinted vehicle windows and covered number plates as part of measures to combat rising criminal activities, including kidnapping.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, warned vehicle owners to remove tinted glasses or risk impoundment of their cars.

She noted that these measures are aimed at reducing crimes such as “one chance” operations.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, emphasized during a suspect parade that tinted windows and covered plates enable criminals to evade detection and hinder efforts to assist kidnapping victims.

Over 296 vehicles have been impounded following this directive.

The police have vowed strict enforcement, urging residents to comply for their safety and security.
