Timaya Reveals Burna Boy Once Kicked Waje, Omawumi Out Of Studio

Afrobeats star Timaya has recounted an incident where Burna Boy reportedly asked singers Omawumi and Waje to leave a studio session after they expressed doubts about his future ambitions.

Speaking during a recent interview on Naija FM, Lagos, Timaya revealed that Burna Boy confidently declared years ago that he would one day be paid to travel in private jets. However, Omawumi and Waje reportedly doubted his claim, which angered Burna Boy.

Timaya said, “Burna Boy is fearless. There was a time in the studio with Omawumi and Waje when he said a time would come when he would get paid to enter private jets.

Omawumi and Waje doubted him because, back then, Nigerian artists weren’t flying private. Burna got angry, opened the studio door, and told them to leave.”

Timaya also addressed comparisons between himself and rapper Eedris Abdulkareem, describing the latter as a “talkative” who lacks respect within the music industry.

He explained that his relationship with Eedris during his early career was purely professional, adding:

“When I was in his band, he didn’t try to build a relationship with me. When people work with you, treat them like family because you don’t know tomorrow.”

Timaya’s revelations shed light on Burna Boy’s determination and his unwavering belief in his potential, which has seen him rise to international stardom.
