Senate Confirms Oluyede As Chief Of Army Staff

The Senate has officially confirmed Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the Chief of Army Staff, following his nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The confirmation came after a review of the report by the Senate Committee on Army, chaired by Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua (Katsina Central). The committee’s recommendations were unanimously approved by the upper chamber.

Lieutenant General Oluyede initially stepped into the role as Acting Chief of Army Staff on November 1, 2024, following the illness and subsequent passing of his predecessor, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

This decision solidifies Oluyede’s leadership of the Nigerian Army during a crucial period of national security challenges.
