Hunter Biden Responds To Father’s Pardon, Pledges To Aid Others In Recovery

Hunter Biden has expressed gratitude and reflected on his journey to sobriety after receiving a pardon from his father, President Joe Biden, absolving him of charges including tax evasion and illegal firearm possession while under the influence of drugs.

In a statement released Sunday, Hunter acknowledged his mistakes during his struggles with addiction, describing them as having been exploited for “political sport.” He emphasized his five years of sobriety and commitment to supporting others in recovery.

“I will never take the clemency I have been given today for granted and will devote the life I have rebuilt to helping those who are still sick and suffering,” he stated.

The broad pardon, issued December 1, 2024, not only dismisses charges against Hunter but also protects him from potential federal offenses committed between 2014 and 2024. This period includes his time serving on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma and his international business dealings.

President Biden defended the pardon, calling Hunter’s prosecution “selective and unfair,” while critics, including former President Donald Trump, denounced the move as politically motivated.
