Herbalist Hospitalised After Testing Failed ‘Bulletproof’ Charm In Abuja

A self-proclaimed herbalist, Ismail Usman, was severely injured in Abuja after testing a self-made “bulletproof” charm.

The incident, which occurred on November 23 in Kuchibuyi village, saw Usman shoot himself in the stomach with a locally fabricated gun, believing the charm would protect him.

According to the FCT police command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, officers responded to a distress call and rushed the injured herbalist to Kubwa General Hospital.

Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, where he remains under medical care.

Police investigations led to the recovery of the homemade gun and various charms.

However, Usman is expected to face charges for unlawful possession of firearms and attempted suicide, violating Section 231 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.

Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu condemned the incident, emphasizing the dangers of illegal firearms and reckless practices.
