Drama Erupts As APC Members Reject PDP Defectors In Ondo

Tensions flared in Ogbagi Akoko Ward Six, Ondo State, as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rejected defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defectors, led by Bobade Gboyega, popularly known as “Danger,” faced backlash after their acceptance into APC was announced by some local party leaders.

Describing the move as “unacceptable, null, and void,” the APC members denounced the inclusion of the PDP defectors, accusing party leaders of deceiving them into welcoming Bobade.

The controversy unfolded during a visit by Honourable Bode Obanla, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Community Engagement (Ondo North), who was on a fact-finding mission to resolve ongoing conflicts in the Ondo North Senatorial District.

The tensions in the ward stem from the attack on Honourable Eli Awe, the Akoko North West Local Government Director General of Aiyedatiwa’s campaign, which is believed to be linked to the crisis. Obanla assured the community that the attack would not be overlooked and pledged to investigate the root causes of the unrest.

“There is no need for concern over the negative perceptions caused by the acceptance of PDP defectors,” Obanla said. He reiterated that while APC remains open to new members, it will not tolerate individuals attempting to use defection as a shield against accountability for past actions.

“Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is a peace-loving leader who believes in justice. Those responsible for heinous acts must face the full weight of the law to set an example,” Obanla added.
