Putin Justifies Strikes On Ukraine’s Power Grid, Threatens Kyiv Decision Centers

Russian President Vladimir Putin has defended the recent large-scale attack on Ukraine’s power grid, claiming it was a direct response to Ukraine’s use of long-range US and UK-supplied weapons inside Russian territory.

In a statement, Putin warned of potential strikes on Kyiv’s “decision-making centers” using Russia’s advanced ballistic missiles if Ukraine continues such actions.

The overnight assault left over one million Ukrainians without power, with explosions reported in multiple regions, including Kharkiv in the east, Odesa in the south, and Lutsk in the west.

The attack comes as temperatures continue to drop across the country, exacerbating the humanitarian impact.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strikes, calling them a “vile escalation.”

This marks the second large-scale attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure this month, according to BBC correspondent Paul Adams.
