IPOB Lawyer Calls For Peace Restoration In Igboland Amid Rising Insecurity

On Monday, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, legal counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), urged the people of the South East to take immediate steps to restore peace in the region. 

His call follows the recent arrest of Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile.

Ejiofor, while not directly naming Ekpa, expressed strong condemnation of what he described as deceit, fraud, and criminality, stating that such actions could not lead to the liberation of the Igbo people. 

He warned that those still holding on to false claims about the future of the Biafra movement would soon realize the truth, as these promises were rooted in lies.

He emphasized that true freedom for the oppressed could not be achieved through violence, fraud, or criminality, urging the people of the South East to reflect on their actions and work towards a peaceful resolution. 

Ejiofor highlighted that, while the Igbo people remain marginalized in the Nigerian political system, violence and falsehoods are not the path to genuine liberation.
