“Support Local Goods For Economic Growth” – Oni Of Ife

Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has emphasized the need for Nigerians to prioritize locally made goods to strengthen the nation’s economy.

Speaking in Akure during the unveiling of the Ojaja Mini City, the monarch underscored that supporting local products over imports would boost Nigeria’s industries and create jobs.

Addressing journalists, Ooni Ogunwusi highlighted that Nigeria’s reliance on imports fuels other economies while local substitutes remain underutilized.

He also stressed that increased investment in the local production of building materials could help address the country’s housing deficit.

The Ojaja Mini City project, spanning 100,000 square meters, features facilities including a five-star hotel, schools, a shopping mall, and residential estates—all built with materials sourced within Nigeria.

The monarch hopes this model will inspire confidence in the quality of Nigerian-made products and encourage a shift toward self-reliance in housing and beyond.

Ooni Ogunwusi called on the government to support local manufacturing to bridge economic gaps, saying, “If we believe in Nigeria and what Nigerians can achieve, our housing deficit will gradually decrease.”
