FG Gives Julius Berger Seven-Day Ultimatum Over Abuja-Kaduna Road Project

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to Julius Berger Plc to accept its offer of ₦740.79 billion for completing the 82km section II of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road project.

During a meeting with the company’s new Managing Director, Dr. Pier Lubasch, and the outgoing Managing Director, Dr. Lars Richter, Umahi expressed frustration over the delays in mobilizing for the project, despite the approved funds.

He warned that if Julius Berger does not accept the contract terms within seven days, the government would terminate the agreement and seek alternative contractors.

The Minister emphasized that the delay is causing hardship for road users and affecting Nigeria’s infrastructure development. He also called on Julius Berger to show corporate responsibility by accepting the offer and warned that the government would not tolerate unrealistic contract pricing.

Julius Berger’s new Managing Director promised to respond soon, hoping for a resolution.
