Minister Of Aviation Unveils Largest Jet Fuel Depot In Nigeria

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has inaugurated the Joint User Hydrant Installation 2 (JUHI-2), a facility with a storage capacity of 150 million liters of Jet A1 fuel, making it the largest airside jet fuel depot in Nigeria.

JUHI-2, located in Ikeja, Lagos, can supply up to 150 million liters of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) monthly, covering 20% of Nigeria’s annual jet fuel demand.

The project is a collaboration between several companies, including Eterna Plc, Masters Energy Oil & Gas, Techno Oil & Gas, Rahamaniyya Oil & Gas, Ibafon Oil, Quest Oil Group, and First Deep Water Limited.

During the commissioning, Keyamo lauded the initiative as a significant boost to the aviation industry, helping reduce flight delays and cancellations caused by Jet A1 fuel shortages. He highlighted the facility’s alignment with global aviation standards and its importance for Nigeria’s hajj operations.

Additionally, Keyamo announced Nigeria’s removal from the watchlist of non-compliant countries, with an improved score of 75.5% in aircraft financing, allowing Nigerian airlines better access to global dry lease aircraft options.
