Ondo APC Criticizes Governor Makinde’s Call for Removal of Electoral Commissioner

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has rejected Governor Seyi Makinde’s call for the removal of Mrs. Babalola Oluwatoyin, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, ahead of the upcoming elections.

The party asserted that neither Ondo State nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is under the control of Oyo State, where Makinde governs.

They emphasized that Mrs. Babalola has shown the integrity, competence, and capacity required to oversee elections.

Ondo APC spokesperson, Alex Kalejaiye, in a statement, dismissed Makinde’s request as “absurd,” highlighting that the governor has no authority or political influence over matters in Ondo State.

 He also condemned Makinde’s advice to Ondo voters, describing it as insulting, and affirmed that the people of Ondo are politically informed and act based on their convictions.

The statement praised the APC’s strong political structure in the state, noting that defections from Makinde’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC have bolstered the party’s chances in the November elections.

Kalejaiye urged Governor Makinde to focus on resolving pressing issues in Oyo State, instead of meddling in Ondo politics.

The party also encouraged its members to remain steadfast and maintain decorum as they campaign for a renewed mandate in the upcoming elections on November 16th.
