Dangote Refinery, Marketers to Meet over New Fuel Price

Nigeria’s petroleum marketers announced that Dangote Refinery will hold meetings with them on Tuesday and Wednesday.Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), shared this information during an interview with Arise TV on Sunday. He noted that increasing efforts in petrol distribution would lead to lower prices for consumers in Nigeria.

“We hope to sit down with Dangote maybe Tuesday or Wednesday and if they give us a template or price, the more we take action in terms of distribution lines, the price will come down.“We are not afraid of this competition, we have organized ourselves and are ready to compete because this is the survival of the fittest”, he said.

The Nigerian government recently confirmed that oil marketers can now purchase petrol directly from Dangote Refinery, as stated by Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Naira-Crude Sale Implementation Committee. This announcement indicates that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) is no longer the exclusive buyer of Dangote petrol.Additionally, last Wednesday, NNPCL raised the petrol pump price at its retail outlets to N1,030 per liter in Abuja, following an earlier increase from N617 to N879 in September 2024.
