Middle East Crisis: “No More Grounds For Talks” -Iran

Iran announced on Monday that it currently sees “no grounds” for continuing its indirect talks with the United States, citing the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

These talks, mediated by Oman, were first confirmed in June, aiming to prevent regional escalation.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, who was in Oman as part of a regional tour, stated, “We don’t see any grounds for these talks until we can get past the current crisis.” The discussions were halted due to “specific conditions” in the region.

Tensions have risen following Iran’s missile attacks on Israel earlier this month, which were in retaliation for the killing of Iranian-aligned militant leaders. Israel has vowed to respond, further escalating the conflict.

Araghchi’s visit to Oman also included meetings with Huthi rebel officials and talks with Oman’s foreign minister, emphasizing diplomacy as a solution to the regional conflicts.
