Sowore Barred From Leaving Nigeria, Immigration Claims He’s On Watchlist

Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has revealed that the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has prevented him from leaving the country, claiming his name is on their watchlist.

Sowore made this known in a statement and video shared on X.com on Friday, describing the situation as harassment and a violation of his rights.

“The Nigerian Immigration Service continues to subject me to unwarranted harassment and abuse, violating my rights repeatedly,” he wrote..

This incident follows a similar event in September when Sowore was arrested at Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos, where the NIS also confiscated his passport.
