Airport Project: House Of Representatives Approves N24bn Refund To Kebbi

The House of Representatives on Thursday approved President Bola Tinubu’s request to refund approximately N24 billion to Kebbi and Nasarawa state governments for the construction of two airports that have been taken over by the Federal Government.

The refund, which includes N15.14 billion for the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi and N9.54 billion for the Lafia Cargo Airport in Nasarawa, follows a request made by President Tinubu in a letter addressed to House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas in May 2024.

The decision was agreed after the House considered the report presented by Abubakar Nalaraba, Chairman of the Committee on Aids, Loans, and Debts Management.

The refund will be issued through a promissory note program, as approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) during its meeting on May 23, 2023.
