64th Independence Day: Boko Haram Terrorists Abduct Farmers In Borno

Just hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babagana Zulum reassured the nation of sufficient security in their broadcasts for Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, suspected Boko Haram terrorists abducted 15 farmers from the Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area.

The timing of the incident remains uncertain due to poor telecommunications in the area. 

However, tensions had reportedly escalated between the terrorists and local farmers as harvest season approached in the border communities of Cameroon and Gwoza.

The Matrix gathered that five of the abducted individuals were killed, along with Jubril Dada Zarana, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), who worked closely with security agencies to repel the attackers.

Despite efforts from security forces, including the army and CJTF, the terrorists managed to overpower the defenses. 

Jubril Dada Zarana was killed heroically while defending his community, and the remaining victims were taken captive.

After transporting the hostages to their base, the terrorists brutally murdered five individuals: Isa Musa Moh’d Diyara, Doglas, Salawuddin Suleman Dauda Lawan, Maryam Gwambran, Matan Kaka Mobil Aga, and Baba Amos. Three women were later released, revealing that several victims, including Anna Andrew Gadzawaga and Hauwa Braga, were still held hostage.

The community is in despair, suffering from a lack of essential support. Residents have been compelled to risk their lives for their farming activities amid the ongoing threat.
