New Ogun PDP Chairman Abayomi Tella Vows To Reposition Party For Success

The newly elected Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Abayomi Tella, has pledged to rejuvenate, rebuild, and reposition the party for future success in the state.

Tella made these remarks following his election during the party’s state congress, which was overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abeokuta on Saturday.

In his victory speech, Tella promised to restore the PDP’s heritage as a major political force, emphasizing that the party’s true identity lies in being a ruling party, not an opposition. He expressed confidence that the PDP would return to power in the next elections.

“Our true identity is not that of an opposition. Returning to our heritage as a ruling party is imminent and must happen in the next polls,” Tella stated.

Reflecting on the party’s recent challenges, Tella noted the PDP had faced unnecessary internal conflicts and judicial interventions but expressed optimism about the future. He called on party members to unite and work together, thanking key individuals for their role in the success of the congress.

Tella emphasized the importance of cooperation, stating, “We need one another, and working together should neither be difficult nor impossible. The 2027 project is our main focus, and it requires all hands on deck.”

He also outlined plans to strengthen the party by implementing policies to promote unity and expand membership, with a goal to provide much-needed relief to the people of Ogun State.

Tella succeeds Dada Awoleye, who served as caretaker chairman after Sikirulai Ogundele’s tenure.
