Edo Government Accuses reinstated Deputy Governor Of Plotting Forceful Takeover Amid Court Appeal

The Edo State Government raised concerns late Saturday, alleging that the reinstated deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has plans to invade the Edo State Government House on Monday, September 30, to enforce his reinstatement, despite an ongoing appeal.

According to a statement by Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser to the Edo State Government, the government has filed a stay of execution appeal against Justice J.K. Omotosho’s ruling. Efforts to reach Shaibu for comment were unsuccessful, as his known mobile numbers were unreachable.

Osagie called on the Inspector General of Police and concerned citizens to intervene, warning that Shaibu’s actions could lead to chaos, referencing a previous attempt that resulted in the death of a police officer. 

The government’s legal team has also informed the police, emphasizing the need to maintain order while the appeal is still under consideration to prevent further violence.
