Over 1,300 APC Members Defect To NNPP In Kano State

No fewer than 1,331 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State defected to the ruling New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) on Thursday.

The defectors, who are drawn from 11 wards within the area, pledged to oppose the return of the APC as the ruling party in the state. Notable among them are Malam Kwa, a former vice chairman of the local government, and Hon. Audu Tumfafi, a former state House of Assembly aspirant.

The NNPP State Chairman, Hon. Hashimu Dungurawa, received the defectors and commended them for their decision. He emphasized the NNPP’s commitment, under the leadership of Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of Kano State. Dungurawa assured the new members of equal opportunities within the party and dismissed rumors of NNPP members defecting to APC.

“We have checked our records and noticed no reduction in our numerical strength. Beware of people collecting public funds in the name of fake defections,” Dungurawa said.

Earlier, Malam Kwa criticized former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, an indigene of the area, for failing to develop it during his eight years in office.
