Petrol-laden Tanker Explodes In Abuja, Many Severely Injured

A tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol has exploded in the Maitama district of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The incident which reportedly happened late on Monday night left many injured.

According to eye witnesses accounts, the incident, which occurred on Monday night along Shehu Shagari Way, left many people injured, including passengers in a commercial vehicle.

Some of those injured in the fire incident were reportedly rushed to the Maitama General Hospital for medical attention.

At the time of this report, emergency responders were said to have arrived at the accident scene.

“I saw victims being brought in for emergency care,” a witness said.

Another witness said the driver of the truck escaped after the vehicle tip over, causing the explosion.

The authorities in the federal capital territory (FCT) are yet to issue a statement on the incident.
