Edo Decides: APC’s Monday Okpebholo Clinches Victory As Collation Resumes

While the collation of results for the Edo State governorship election resumes, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, leads the race.

Okpebholo has so far secured victories in 11 out of the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, the APC is ahead with 275,329 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) follows with 220,892 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) is in third place with 18,737 votes.

However, the collation process faced some tension when a PDP agent in Oredo Local Government contested the results, alleging tampering. The APC disagreed with these claims, leading to a brief exchange.

Prof. Kuta, in response, called for calm as the process continues. The final result from the remaining LGA, Ikpoba-Okha, is still pending.
