Edo Poll: How APC’s Okpebholo Won Edo Governorship Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has been proclaimed the victor of Saturday’s Edo State gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Federal University of Technology Vice-Chancellor and Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, formally declared Okpebholo the election’s victor.

This is because the results from the state’s 18 local government areas revealed that the Okpebholo party defeated the nominees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Asue Ighodalo, and the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata, by winning eleven of the LGAs.

Okpebholo garnered 291,667 votes to beat Ighodalo and Akpata with 247,274 and 18,737 votes, respectively.

Okpebholo will take over from the outgoing Godwin Obaseki at the Osadebe House in Edo State.

In his remarks after his victory, the governor-elect, Okpebholo said he would continue from where the former Governor, Adams Oshiomole stopped.
