A series of explosions rocked Lebanon on Wednesday afternoon, leaving nine people dead and more than 300 injured, according to the country’s health ministry.

The blasts were reportedly caused by walkie-talkies that exploded under unknown circumstances.

Health ministry officials confirmed that emergency services are working tirelessly to transport the injured to hospitals.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed deep concern over the explosions in Lebanon and Syria, calling for “maximum restraint” from all parties to avoid further escalation. Guterres urged conflicting sides to return to a ceasefire and restore stability.
