Police spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that the incident occurred on Sunday around 8:00 p.m.
The man’s elder brother reported to Elere Police Station that Benjamin had hanged himself in their house’s store.
3.FRSC Confirms 25 Deaths in Kaduna Road Accident
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed 25 deaths in a fatal accident in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to Sector Commander Kabir Nadabo, the crash occurred on Sunday afternoon when a J5 bus carrying 63 passengers collided with a DAF trailer.
A combined team of FRSC, police, and KASTLEA quickly responded to the scene for rescue operations.
4. Oyo APC Appoints Moshood Olayide-Abas As Acting Chairman
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has appointed Moshood Olayide-Abas as its Acting Chairman, following the death of former chairman Isaac Omodewu.
Olayide-Abas, previously the party’s Deputy State Chairman, was ratified by the state executive committee.
He and Omodewu were elected during the party’s state congress in October 2021.
5. NiMet Predicts Thunderstorms, Rain Across Nigeria From Tuesday
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted thundery and rainy weather conditions across the country from Tuesday to Thursday.
According to NiMet’s outlook, thunderstorms are expected Tuesday morning in Bauchi, Kebbi, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, Adamawa, and Kaduna, with more storms later in the day.
In the North Central region, thunderstorms are predicted over Kogi, Benue, Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, and Niger, with continued storms later.
Southern states like Ebonyi, Imo, Enugu, and others will experience moderate morning rains, followed by intermittent rain in the afternoon.
6. Gov. Zulum Seeks NEMA’s Support To Resettle Flood Victims
Governor Babagana Zulum has urged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other stakeholders to help resettle flood victims in their communities.
He made the appeal during a visit from NEMA’s Director-General in Maiduguri, who was there to assess ongoing interventions.
Zulum noted that 36 camps have been set up for displaced persons and will be gradually closed as the Alau dam floodwaters recede.
7. Kano State Donates N100 Million To Borno Flood Victims
The Kano State Government has donated N100 million to assist victims of recent floods in Borno.
The cheque was presented by Kano’s Information Commissioner, Baba Halilu Dantiye, and Humanitarian Affairs Commissioner, Hajiya Amina Sani, on behalf of Governor Abba Yusuf.
Governor Yusuf expressed deep sympathy for the victims, calling the crisis “catastrophic” and emphasizing the need for collective efforts to address such disasters.
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who received the donation, thanked Kano for its generous support and assured that the funds would be used for the flood victims’ benefit.
