In preparation for the start of petroleum lifting from Dangote Refinery, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has dispatched over 300 trucks to the site.

Additionally, the Lagos State Government has increased its traffic personnel to manage the anticipated surge along the Lekki-Ajah-Epe corridor. Initially, the Federal Government announced that Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petroleum, would begin being lifted from the Dangote Refinery.
After some discussions, it was later decided that NNPCL would be the exclusive initial buyer of Dangote’s PMS, responsible for distributing it to other marketers.
The NNPCL in a statement on its X handle said, “In preparation for the Dangote Refinery’s scheduled petrol loading on Sunday, September 15, 2024, NNPC Ltd. has been mobilizing trucks to the refinery’s fuel loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki.
“NNPC Ltd. trucks are arriving at the Dangote Refinery in preparation for the scheduled petrol loading on Sunday, September 15, 2024. By the end of today, at least 300 trucks will be stationed at the refinery’s fuel loading gantry.”
In response to concerns about potential traffic congestion in the Ibeju-Lekki corridor, the Lagos State Government has announced a comprehensive strategy to manage the anticipated gridlock.
The government outlined that a “total package of comprehensive traffic management strategies” will be implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow along the Lekki-Ajah corridor.
On Saturday, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, confirmed that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has been equipped with advanced technology and trained personnel to effectively manage and regulate traffic in the affected areas.
Giwa reassured residents and commuters in the Lekki-Ajah area that thorough preparations are in place and encouraged them to remain calm and trust in the state government’s ability to handle the situation.
