Key Super Eagles Players Absent From Training Camp

The Super Eagles kicked off their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic with an intense training session in Uyo on Tuesday evening.

A total of 20 players participated in the session, led by captain William Ekong. Among the early arrivals were defenders Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, and Olisa Ndah, midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and forwards Ademola Lookman and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Goalkeeper Amas Obasogie and midfielder Wilfred Ndidi also joined the camp, while forward Victor Boniface and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali arrived later in the evening.

On Tuesday morning, defender Calvin Bassey and midfielders Alex Iwobi and Frank Onyeka joined the squad. Defender Benjamin Tanimu, who was drafted in to replace Bright Osayi-Samuel, midfielder Alhassan Yusuf Abdullahi, and forwards Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze also arrived.

Just before the team departed for training, defender Bruno Onyemaechi and midfielder Raphael Onyedika joined the camp.

However, several key players are still expected to join the squad. Forward Kelechi Iheanacho is due to arrive on Wednesday, while goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and forward Victor Osimhen are expected to join the camp on Thursday.
