Nigerian Music Icon Onyeka Onwenu To Be Buried Today

Renowned Nigerian singer Onyeka Onwenu, affectionately known as the “Elegant Stallion,” will be laid to rest today, Friday, August 30, 2024, in Lagos.

The 72-year-old music icon passed away on July 30 after collapsing at an event honoring Dr. Stella Okoli.

A funeral service will be held at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, followed by a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi.

The Service of Songs is scheduled for 10-12 noon, while the burial will take place from 2-4 pm.

Onwenu’s death has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian music industry, where she was revered for her powerful voice and stage presence. She leaves behind a rich musical legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
