It has been requested of Nigerian youth to utilize ICT wisely in order to positively impact society and the entire world community.
The counsel was given by Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor of Lagos State, during her speech at the 2024 International Youth Day Conference in Lagos.
According to him, there are a plethora of options in today’s digital world that may empower people, especially young people, in order to solve the numerous issues facing both the country and the entire community.

He advised the Youths to always read meaningful materials and watch educative videos that would give them practical solutions to solving problems on the internet rather than spend their time on frivolities.
Dr. Hamzat emphasized that the education individuals acquire in the four walls of educational institutions today was not enough for anyone to make positive impact in today’s world which is being driven by technology.
He therefore, urged the Youths to look beyond the theoretical knowledge they were being exposed to in the classroom by taking advantage of the opportunities that abound in the digital technology world which is the way the world is tilting to.

In an opening address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Social Development, Mrs.Toyin Oke Osanyintolu said the Lagos State government was committed to providing enabling environment for the Youths in the state to tap into the digital world with the aim of providing solutions to problems in the society.
She stressed that she had the confidence that Nigerian Youths had what it takes to make the positive difference the nation desired in the area of technological advancement.
She added that the Youths had the key to unlocking the means to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria.

An expert in digital technology, Mr. Eyitayo Ogunmola who delivered a keynote address at the occasion advised the Youths to always find means of learning skills capable of providing solutions to problems in the society as this was one of the sure ways of making legitimate money in today’s world.
He emphasized that bigger opportunity in today’s world lied in the Digital world.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of gift to the deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
