Sven-Goran Eriksson, Ex England Manager, Passes Away

Swedish football legend Sven-Goran Eriksson, known for his tenure as England’s national team manager from 2001 to 2006, has sadly passed away at the age of 76.

His agent, Bo Gustavsson, confirmed the news on Monday, stating that Eriksson peacefully succumbed to pancreatic cancer surrounded by his loved ones.

Eriksson, who was previously the sporting director at Karlstad in Sweden, stepped down from his role in February 2023. He later revealed that he had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer.

The football community rallied around Eriksson, sending him well-wishes from all corners of the globe.

As a gesture of support, he was offered the opportunity to manage his childhood club, Liverpool, in a charity match against Ajax at Anfield.”

European football’s governing body UEFA said: “On behalf of the European football community, everybody at UEFA is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sven Goran Eriksson.”
