Again! Flood Cuts Off Major Highway In Bauchi State

A major highway linking Kano and Maiduguri in northeastern Nigeria has been severed due to severe flooding in Bauchi State.

The Azare-Ja’amare road, a vital artery along the Kano-Maiduguri Highway, has been rendered impassable following torrential rains.

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who visited the affected area, expressed deep concern over the situation and warned of potential flooding in nearby communities if the water flow is not adequately managed.

He has already alerted the Federal Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, about the critical state of the road.

The incident comes just weeks after another section of the Kano-Maiduguri highway was damaged by heavy rains between Malori and Guskuri villages in the Katagum Local Government Area.

The flood created a significant crater in the road, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.

Bauchi State has been grappling with the devastating effects of flooding in recent weeks, with loss of lives, destruction of homes, and widespread disruption.
