NLC Threatens Nationwide Strike Over Ajaero’s Invitation

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a stern warning to the Nigeria Police Force, threatening a nationwide strike if its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, is detained following a police invitation over alleged terrorism financing.

The union made the declaration on Tuesday after an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to discuss the matter.

While the NEC agreed that Ajaero should honor the police invitation, they also instructed their legal team to seek a postponement of his appearance.

Deputy President of the NLC, Comrade Ado Kabiru Sani, cautioned the nation’s workforce to be prepared for further directives, hinting at possible industrial action if the police overstep their bounds.

The development has heightened tensions between the labor union and the police, with the threat of a nationwide strike potentially disrupting essential services across the country.
