Typhoon Ampil Wreaks Havoc In Japan

A powerful typhoon is causing widespread disruption across Japan as it barrels towards the country’s east coast.

Thousands of residents have been ordered to evacuate, while hundreds of flights and train services have been canceled due to Typhoon Ampil.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) classified Ampil as a “very strong” typhoon, warning of fierce winds capable of causing injuries and overturning vehicles.

The storm is expected to pass close to the Tokyo region on Friday, bringing heavy rain and storm surges.

In response to the impending threat, authorities in multiple prefectures, including Chiba and Fukushima, have issued evacuation orders. Over 300,000 people in Iwaki City alone have been told to seek shelter.

Additionally, numerous other cities have opaened evacuation centers and encouraged residents to voluntarily evacuate.

The transportation network has been severely impacted, with major airports and train lines suspending operations.

Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita airports, as well as those in Osaka and Nagoya, have canceled dozens of flights, stranding thousands of passengers.

The Shinkansen bullet train service between Tokyo and Nagoya has been completely halted.

Power outages have also been reported, with over 2,500 households in the Kanto region experiencing blackouts.

Residents are urged to stay indoors, avoid coastal areas, and exercise extreme caution due to the dangerous conditions.
