Four Confirmed Dead As Flood Ravage Bauchi Community

At least four people have lost their lives in devastating floods that have hit Bauchi State, according to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

The flooding, triggered by heavy rainfall in recent days, has caused widespread destruction in Shira, Giade, and Katagum Local Government Areas. Countless homes have been destroyed, farmlands submerged, and critical infrastructure, including sections of the Kano-Maiduguri expressway, washed away.

SEMA Director-General, Mr. Masud Aliyu, confirmed the tragic toll on Wednesday, highlighting the urgent need for relief efforts. The agency is working tirelessly to provide assistance to those affected and to restore essential services.

Emergency crews are currently on the ground repairing damaged roads, including the Giade-Isawa and Kano-Maiduguri routes, to facilitate movement.

As the rainy season continues, SEMA is urging residents to heed weather warnings issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) to minimize the impact of potential flooding.
