Asake Breaks Record Becomes First African Artiste To Top Global Spotify Debut Chart

Asake, a Nigerian singer, has achieved a historic milestone by being the first African musician to reach the top of the worldwide Spotify debut list.

After his newly released third studio album, “Lungu Boy,” debuted at the top of the charts, he praised the achievement.

With guest appearances from Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla, the 15-track album smashed the record for the most Spotify first-day streaming for an African album.

The album garnered 9.42 million streams on the Global Spotify Chart on its first day.

One of the standout tracks from the album ‘MMS’ featuring Wizkid, broke the record for the biggest first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria with 870,000 streams.
