Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has lauded members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the state for conducting a peaceful and successful congress on Saturday July 27.
The governor made the commendation at his ward, Ibiakpan Obotim Ward 2, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, he commended the huge turnout of party faithfuls which according to him signifies unity of purpose which will give them victory in the forthcoming Local Government election.
“From the reports we have received across the state, the congress went well and all the party guidelines and principles were observed. We have our party representatives from Abuja, independent observers, as well as INEC around. So all the requirements were met. It’s been a very peaceful congress, and we trust God that this is how it will continue.”Governor Eno said.
Elder Aniekan Akpan, the State Chairman of PDP said the reports at his disposal from various wards indicates that the exercise was generally peaceful and this shows the party’s readiness for the Local Government election coming up by October.

On her part, The Deputy Governor of the state Senator Akon Eyakenyi while addressing party members in Oron commended the credibility of the congress as every member was carried along. Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, The Speaker of The State House of Assemby in his comment said that the outcome of the PDP Congress reaffirmed that Akwa Ibom remains a stronghold of the PDP, he expressed confidence that the party will continue to win elections in the state.
Senator Effiong Bob, The political leader of Uyo Senatorial District in his ward in Nsit Ubium called on the new executives to be dedicated and put the interests of the party first at all times , calling for unity and support for the growth of the party.
The party representative for the national headquarters who monitored the Congress, Barrister Hassan Yakubu expressed his delight for the credibility of the congresses and the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
Observers from the National Headquarters who monitored the congress in Nsit Ubium included Chairman, Barrister Yakubu Hassan; Secretary, Pastor (Mrs) Bisi Odunsi; Member, Barrister Karen Njoku; Member, Mr. Chinedum Ikogwe; Electoral Assistant, Bayo Ogunlowo; and Electoral Assistant, Alfred Vasco Dauda.
