Former Senator Warns of Kidnapping Threat in Ondo Community, Urges Intervention

A Renowned elder statesman and former Senator, Dr. Bode Olajumoke, has made a passionate appeal to the Ondo State government to urgently rehabilitate the Owo/Ose road, citing the alarming rise in insecurity in the area. The Owo/Ose axis has become a notorious hotspot for kidnapping, killing, and other heinous crimes, instilling fear in residents and travelers alike.

Dr. Olajumoke, who celebrated his 80th birthday in Akure, the state capital, expressed deep concern about the deplorable condition of the Owo/Ifon road in the Ose local government area. He attributed the spate of kidnappings, armed robberies, and deaths, including that of a first-class monarch, to the poor state of the road.

The former Senator, who represented Ondo North Senatorial district from 2007 to 2011, lamented that the area has become a haven for criminals, making it impossible for indigenes to visit their hometowns due to the threat of kidnappers. He shared a personal experience, saying his children and grandchildren almost turned back while traveling to Imeri due to the bad road. He also mentioned the kidnapping of a parent on their way to Navy Secondary School, attributing it to the poor road conditions.

Dr. Olajumoke’s appeal is a clarion call to the Ondo State government to take immediate action to address the insecurity and rehabilitate the Owo/Ose road, restoring peace and safety to the affected communities.
