Meta To Appeal FCCPC’s $220 Million Fine

WhatsApp declared that Meta, its parent company, would file an appeal against the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission’s (FCCPC) $220 million punishment for breaking Nigeria’s data privacy rules.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was provided with this statement on Saturday in Lagos. The FCCPC said in a statement that Meta had denied Nigerian consumers access over their data. The statement was signed by interim Executive Chairman Adamu Abdullahi.

According to WhatsApp, they will notify users worldwide on how commercial interactions will operate in 2021. In spite of the initial uncertainty, a lot of people have used this function.

It stated, “We disagree with the decision today as well as the fine and Meta will be appealing the decision.”
